When his colleagues tried to disarm him, he began to show some behavior and began filming occasionally.
One civilian died immediately, while two others were injured and are currently undergoing medical treatment.
State Police Public Relations Officer Irene Ugbo also said the incident also said the officials involved had been detained for investigation.
She said;
The report we received was that the inspector had returned to duty.
Usually, police officers work all night and have to surrender their rifles at the station.
“But he suddenly began to act irrationally and speak inconsistently.
“He was supposed to give up his rifle, log in and leave the station, but, he started to perform strangely, and the officers around him tried to calm him down.
“Then, he just picked up his rifle and started shooting occasionally. That’s how the bullet hit three people – one person has been confirmed dead and two others are being treated.
“We have to curb this situation as young people in the area try to burn the police station. However, we have returned to peace and even AIG is here.
