The Cardinal enters St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican to celebrate the last Mass before the meeting to elect the next Pope.
Mass will be celebrated before the process of electing a new leader of the Catholic Church after the death of Pope Francis on April 21.
Giovanni Battista Re, the dean of the Cardinal College, is celebrating the Mass, praying that the 133 Cardinals will begin their first votes before entering Sistine Chapel later that day to find wisdom, good attorneys and understanding.
The Cardinal College, composed of 133 qualified cardinals from 70 countries, will elect 1.4 billion new leaders of the Catholic church. During the meeting, they will be isolated from the outside world, abandoned their phones, and run in a cell phone kidnapping environment around the Vatican to prevent external communications.
