
After being accused of kidnapping, a mob in the Udune Efandion Community in Uromi, Ido state burned down 16 travelers from northern Nigeria.
The incident occurred on Thursday, March 27.
The people were said to have travelled from Harcourt Port to Kano to Sara, when they were stopped by local vigilance at around 1:30 pm.
They were said to have been found with machetes and local Danish guns, leading to local vigilance accusations of their kidnapping.
The allegation triggered a mob attack.
Young people in the community reportedly set up trucks they were traveling in the fire, trapping some of the bodies inside the vehicle.
Other travelers were taken to the wheelbarrow and threw a fire in the middle of the road.
One victim was heard crying in pain after being thrown into the fire.
“Oh, he’s crying.” Hearing the voice of the woman sympathizes.
“So do you suffer?” said a man.
“Ehn, Na, let them die.” Another male voice continued in the victim’s cry.
The video shared online records Dastardly Jungle Justice.
When the security agents arrived at the scene, it was too late to rescue these people.
The video sparked a different reaction, and the audience defended the man. They said they must be hunters, not kidnappers.
The incident also reignited a conversation about jungle justice.
