
Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University’s 200 student at Bauchi was identified as Joy James, who allegedly attacked her colleague and roommate, and Joyce Arigbede, a 100 student, was a 100 student, not food.
The incident occurred in a cabin in Gubi, which two students live outside campus.
According to an investigation conducted by the Student Union Government and Student Affairs Committee, the conflict began with the food of Joyce Joyce Arigbede if it was not allowed.
This led to verbal arguments between the duo when Joyce was facing Joy eating food.
In response to Joyce’s complaint, Joy James allegedly attacked her with a turning stick, causing serious facial injuries near her eyes.
Joy James tried to put a heavy stone on Joyce’s head but was stopped by the onlookers.
SUG Presidential Citizen Fahad Abdullahi condemned all forms of bullying and violence in a statement issued on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
He further advised students to avoid any retaliation as university administrators are dealing with the matter.
“SUG fully supports the University in ensuring justice. The Alliance remains committed to fairness, security and protection of student rights,” the statement said.
