
Anti-drug detectives have arrested a 25-year-old woman who attempted to smuggle cocaine into India through Kenya’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
The Criminal Investigation Bureau (DCI) revealed in a statement on Friday, May 2, 2025 that the suspect was arrested shortly before boarding the plane.
During routine inspections, officers marked Wanjiku for further screening, thus finding two hidden bags in his suitcase.
After the inspection, the detective discovered a white powdery substance wrapped in a yellow cello.
“Caroline Wanjiku Mwangi, 25, learned that drug smuggling is a difficult way to get into jail quickly, rather than a holiday in the sun. The aspiring drug slaughter was caught by detectives at the Eagle-Eyed Antialcotics unit of Eagle-Eyed at JOMO KENYATTA International Airport as she tried to board Goa, India, the statement.”
“When the sharp detective marked her as a routine check, her travel plan exploded. A quick check of her luggage led to the discovery of two suspicious smaller bags.
After opening them, the detective discovered a white powdery substance wrapped in a yellow cello, which is definitely not your average souvenir.
“Site tests confirmed the officer’s suspicion, and the results showed that the powdered substance cocaine weighed 1.3 kg.
“Wanjiku is currently cooling her heels at the JKIA Police Department, and is undergoing processing, waiting for her court appearance.
“At the same time, the seized narcotics were detained as exhibits.
“Her trip to Goa just had accommodation provided by anti-drug detectives.”
