Natasha Osawaru, a fan of singer 2face Idibia, has been removed from office as minority leader at the Edo State Capitol.
Osawaru is a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and is a member of the constituency representing Egor.
Her removal was a shift in the party’s majority after four PDP lawmakers defected to the All Progressive Assembly (APC), which gave the latter majority control.
The MP was removed from office along with charities Aiguobarueghian (former majority leader) and Yekini Idaiye, who served as the chief whip of the House.
However, Blessing Agbebaku and Maria Edeko, who are also members of the PDP, retained the positions of speaker and deputy speaker respectively.
The development follows a letter from Jarret Tenebe, acting chairman of the Edo State APC, and informed the party of its new majority identity.
In response, the Speaker announced the appointment of APC members, including Ibhamawu Aigbokhan from Esan West, as the majority leader, Addeh Isibor from Esan North-East I as deputy leader, and Lecky Hussein Mustapha from Etsako West I as chief whip.
Agbebaku said the state’s PDP leadership will submit a list of nominees for the remaining major offices. He added that his position as speaker and deputy speaker could be reviewed.
Natasha has been in focus since 2baba announced his breakup with Annie Idibia in January and confirmed his relationship with her a few days later.
