At least 37 cows were shot dead in the Tashek community in the Riyom local government area of Plateau State.

According to the National Chapter of the Nigerian Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN), Ibrahim. Yusuf Babayo, the incident occurred on Sunday, April 27 at around 1pm.

The latest attack happened just a week after a similar incident in the Tanjoel community, and also in Riyom LGA, where gunmen opened fire at herders, injuring two herders and five cattle K!

The Chairman said the attack was unreasonable, adding that achieving the hidden goal was the intentional action of the perpetrator.

“The gunmen rushed into the area and began shooting at grazing cattle, resulting in the death of 37 cattle and the injury of herders. After the attack, I immediately called on the department commander of Operation Riyom’s safe haven to inform him of the incident, and he then deployed the troops to the scene to assess the situation.”

The chairman also said he had informed the state’s security agencies, including the commander of the State Police and the State Police Commissioner (SDS), OPSH and GOC 3 departments about the incident, adding: “They both acknowledge the report and demand efforts to put the law into practice in the case of arrests of the offenders.”
