
DE@d has confirmed at least five people, and the other 20 remain missing after a tragic ship collision in the local government area of the southern Worri in the Delta State.
The accident happened on Monday night, February 24, involving speedboats transporting passengers returning from the burial.
Witnesses reported that most passengers did not wear life jackets when the ship collided and tilted. The Delta State Police Department has confirmed the incident, and spokesman EDAFE BRIGHT pointed out that six survivors were rescued due to injuries and are currently being treated in an undisclosed hospital in Warri.
“This is a tragic accident and we are working with the Marine Force and local divers to find the missing passengers,” Bright said.
