Nnamdi Kanu has made a new turn around the legal battle surrounding the Indigenous People of Biyafra (IPOB) as his case has officially reassigned his case to another judge.

Naija News The report said the development has been confirmed by Kanu’s chief lawyer Aloy Ejimakorin a statement on Saturday.

Ejimakor revealed that Kanu is still fully prepared for the trial and is full of confidence in his innocence.

“Yesterday, we received two official letters about his case before the legal team conducted a routine visit to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. These letters are important, a bit like pyrhic,Ejimakor said.

According to him, one of the letters came from the Honorary Chief Justice of Nigeria in response to a request for administrative intervention, previously a judge who had previously handled the Kanu case.

The second letter from the Chief Justice of the Federal High Court formally informed Kanu’s legal team about the reallocation of the case.

Thanks to this decision, Kanu directed his legal team to acknowledge the efforts of the Chief Justice of Nigeria and said: “Due to these latest developments, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu directed the legal team to publicly express sincere thanks to the Chief Justice of Nigeria and to her reasonable administrative judgment and the dispatch she made to our request. ”

He also expressed appreciation to the public who supported the request for redistribution of his case.

Ejimakor reiterated his preparations for the trial, stressing that Kanu has always been willing to defend himself in court, but faces challenges due to judicial disruptions that began in September 2024.

“To be sure, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been ready for trial because he firmly believes in his innocence. However, the misconduct of the past six months (from September 2024, the review began) has posed dangers to his constitutional rights, especially his right to fair and quick hearings,” Ejimakor pointed out.

He further explained that the legal team must take extraordinary measures to ensure that the case is properly redistributed. Now, the authorities have taken steps to maintain due process and the focus will be shifted to Kanu’s defense.

“So, now that the authorities have taken the first step to do the legal thing, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and his legal team will take stocks and do their best to prepare for the defence with zealousness,He added.
