Nigerian singer-songwriter Ayra Starr is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood in the upcoming film adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s best-selling novel, Giral of Blood and Bone. This casting marks an important milestone in Starr’s career, transitioning from music to screen.
The child of blood and bones is set in an imaginative African fantasy kingdom, and a young woman begins to seek to restore the pursuit of magic to her people. The narrative examines the themes of oppression, heritage and resilience, drawing inspiration from West African mythology.
