    • FG has approved licenses for three new refineries to increase Nigeria’s domestic refining capacity by 140,000 barrels per day.

    • The refineries will be built by Eghudu Refinery Ltd at Delta State, MB Refinery and Petrochemical Company Ltd and his Refinery and Petrochemical Company Ltd at Abia State.

    • This development brings the total number of modular and conventional refineries in Nigeria to about 14.

The federal government has announced approval of licenses to build three new refineries through the Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Agency (NMDPRA).

The new facilities will add 140,000 barrels to Nigeria’s domestic refining capacity every day.

According to NMDPRA, Eghudu Refinery Ltd in Edo State has granted a 100,000 BPD refinery license, while MB refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd in Delta have granted a 30,000 BPD refinery license.

“Chief Executive Officer, Engineer. Farouk Ahmed issued a license to build a 100,000 bpd refinery at Eghudu Refinery Ltd in Edo State, which is a license to establish a 30,000 bpd refinery at Delta State for MB refinery and petrochemical companies, and a license to establish a 10,000 bpd refinery in his refinery and petrochemical company.

“These permits increase Nigeria’s domestic refining capacity by 140,000 barrels per day,” NMDPRA said.
