Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara invited the state capitol, Martin Amaewhule and other members to attend a meeting at the Government Building in Port Harcourt on Monday. The invitation was conveyed by a letter dated March 7 and was sent by state government Tammy Danagogo.
The meeting comes after the Supreme Court ruled to restore the ruling of the parliamentary faction led by Amavul, which is consistent with former Rivers Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike. In the letter, Fubara acknowledged the court’s judgment and extended the invitation to the legislators.
“He therefore directed you and your colleagues, honorable members of the River State Capitol, to attend the meeting,” the letter read.
Discussions are expected to focus on ensuring appropriate gathering venues, addressing outstanding remuneration and allowances, and other legislative matters. The development marks a major move to address the ongoing political tensions in the state.
