Meghan Markle’s estranged father, Thomas Markle Snr, criticized his daughter’s Netflix performance and decided to give up her maiden name Markle.
In the second episode of her new Netflix show, with Love, Meghan, the 43-year-old can be seen chatting with actress Mindy Kaling, who said: “People don’t believe Meghan Markle eats Jack in the box.”
Megan replied, “It’s also fun, you keep saying Megan Markle. You know I’m Sussex now. You have kids, you’re gone, ‘No, I share my name with my kids’…I don’t know how meaningful it makes to me, but it’s just our last name, this is our last name, this is our little last name.”
Many fans are working hard to revolve around the idea of ”Meghan Sussex”, including Dad Thomas.
On the show, Meghan recalls affectionately the memories of her grandmother making apple butter and her hope to continue this sweet preservation tradition for her children. “I think my kids now connect it to home from school and smell the sweetness that winds through the house as they slow-cooked fruit.”
But Thomas, 80, believes Meghan’s grandmother Doris, who died in 2011 at the age of 91, would be “disappointed” to learn about Meghan’s name change.
Thomas told The Mail online: “My mom loves Megan very much, but she was disappointed to hear that Megan no longer wants to use the name “Markel”. My mom is honored to be Markel.
Then, he said sarcastically: “Now I have to say, ‘I am Megan Sussex’s father.”
Thomas Markle Sr. also claimed that his daughter “pretends” her expression looks pleasant and perfect on the screen.
“Unfortunately, Meghan was never real. She had to think about everything. She wasn’t spontaneous,” Thomas said.
He added: “Everything she said was pre-planned and rehearsed. It made me laugh because I know all of her looks and expressions.”
He added: “I know when she made a fake for the camera.
“You have to be real to get people’s attention. When you stuff Turkey’s A***, you have to look happy.
“The best chefs are fun, they messed up, they are humans. She just wanted to be perfect. It’s sad because it’s hard for her to stay in the spotlight.”
Retired lighting director Thomas also questioned Meghan’s claims that she was a “latchkey Kid” who “growed up with a lot of fast food and a lot of TV tray dinners.”
He said: “Like any single dad doing a long job, I occasionally have a TV dinner in the microwave. But most of the time we go out.
“After school, I either pick her up and we’re going out to eat, or I send a car to bring her into the scene. She grew up in the scene where I work. She was never a lazy kid.
“We live in a great place full of restaurants. We eat all the time. I take her to dance classes on weekends when I’m not working and invite her out for dinner with all her friends.”
Meghan’s love for luxurious fruit platters and extravagant meals has also attracted criticism from her father, who expressed concern about her portrayal of her and the reality that many face.
He added: “She lost contact with the average person. She put edible flowers on everything. No one can eat edible flowers conveniently. It’s stupid to bring kids to the food in school. Kids don’t like them, and if you put edible flowers in your kid’s lunch box, they might be ridiculed in school.”
Thomas Markle Sr. also criticized his daughter’s unconventional way of cooking pasta, where she added raw pasta to the pot, topped with vegetables and water instead of boiling alone.
“Who makes pasta like this? You always boil the water and add it to the pasta. That’s the most basic thing,” he said.
He further stated that his ex-wife Meghan’s mother was a great chef and Meghan never showed much interest in cooking as a kid.
