The Joint Admissions and Admissions Committee (JAMB) announced that a record 2,030,627 candidates have registered for the 2024 Unified Level 3 Entrance Examination (UTME), marking the largest number of applicants in the history of the Board.

To prepare for the main exam, JAMB organized an optional mock test scheduled for April 5. 200,115 candidates are expected to participate in the mock check, designed to familiarize them with computer-based testing systems.

Dr Fabian Benjamin, a public communication consultant at JAMB, confirmed the details in an interview in Abuja. He noted that the registration process ended on March 8 excluded foreign candidates who would sit for exams outside Nigeria.

The examination is scheduled to begin on April 25 and more than 700 computer-based testing centers nationwide.

Among the registered candidates, 41,026 were under the age of 16, reflecting the growth in trends in young students seeking admissions institutions

This year’s registration figures exceed the 1.9 million candidates who applied for UTME in 2023.

“This is the highest number of registrations we have recorded in exam history. These numbers do not include foreign students who will write exams abroad,” Benjamin said.
