The Presidential Palace disagrees with the Nigerian Catholic Bishops Conference (CBCN) submission on the country’s situation and economic prospects.
The President on Monday, in a statement by the Information and Strategic Law Firm of Special Adviser Bola Tinubu, said Nigeria is heading in the right direction toward Nigeria under the current government.
Naija News recalled that at the first plenary session of CBCN in 2025, the bishop condemned the hardships of the country and exacerbated the insecurity during the CBCN plenary session held in Abuja on Sunday.
However, Onanuga said in response that the Catholic bishop’s position does not reflect the true situation of the country.
The statement believes that Nigeria’s Tinubu took over power better in May 2023, as significant improvements were recorded in the security, economy and other sectors.

Despite his contribution, he said he decided to separate the pathway with APC due to growing concerns about governance and internal party dynamics.
“In my political journey, I have to seek another political platform to pursue the progressive value I cherish,” he said.
El-Rufai announced his move to SDP, thanking his mentors, colleagues and supporters, reaffirming his commitment to advancing democratic principles.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) explained that it has not unilaterally terminated the crude oil agreement with Naila and the Danish refinery.

Naija News reported that NNPC had reported that it had stopped Naira’s picky Naira, clarified with Dangote oil refineries and other local refineries, a move that could lead to higher gasoline prices.
The move would mean that local refineries, including Dangote, will now have to source crude oil from international suppliers, which will greatly increase the costs of deals denominated in USD.
However, NNPCL’s chief corporate communications officer Olufemi Soneye said in a statement Monday that he responded to the report, saying the contract for the sale of crude oil in Naira is a six-month agreement, as the case may be, and expires at the end of March 2025.

The Nigeria Supreme Court has retained an appeal filed by the embattled former National Democratic Party (PDP) Samuel Anyanwu, challenging his appointment from the post.
Anyanwu tried to overturn the ruling of the appeals court Enugu Division, which upheld an earlier ruling from the Federal High Court that removed him from office and confirmed that Udeh-Okoye was due to be the PDP state secretary on Sunday.
In ten ground appeals filed by his attorney Ken Njemanze (SAN), Anyanwu urged the Supreme Court to allow him to appeal and revoke the lower court’s ruling.
Anyanwu argued that the Court of Appeal upheld the federal High Court’s legal offence when it came to jurisdiction over PDP’s internal affairs.
Furthermore, he accused the lower court of failure to determine whether the plaintiff had exhausted the PDP’s internal dispute resolution mechanism before filing the lawsuit.
After submission, a five-member team led by Justice Uwani Musa Abba-Aji retains the subsequent judgment, which will be communicated to the parties.
