    House Representative Orders National Porn Website Closed

    The House has directed the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to close pornographic sites immediately nationwide.

    The directive was released at a plenary meeting on Tuesday, with lawmakers urging Internet service providers to block access under the newly authorized ones.

    The decision was reportedly intended to address concerns about the impact of clear content on society, especially among young people.

    Katsina Rep. Dalhatu Tafoki sponsored the motion, calling it a step to “protect social values.” Taffoki’s motion was reportedly supported by other lawmakers who stressed the need to uphold the country’s moral structure.

    Telecom tariff rate hikes: Serap Sues Tinubu, NCC

    The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) brings President Bola Tinubu and the Communications Commission of Nigeria (NCC) to the recent 50% rate hike in telecommunications tariffs.

    The lawsuit, filed in the Federal High Court of Abuja, challenges the decision to increase telecom tariffs to “arbitrary, unconstitutional, illegal, unfair and unreasonable”.
