His daughter said on Tuesday, March 11 that former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte was “forcibly taken to a plane to The Hague.
Duterte’s daughter, Sara, is also the country’s vice president, wrote on Instagram.
“They took him out of the plane without considering his health.”
Reuters also reported that Duterte boarded the plane. In another statement to the Filipino star, Sarah said her father was taken to The Hague.
“When I wrote this, he was forcibly taken to The Hague tonight. It’s not justice – it’s oppression and persecution,” the vice president said.
Duterte, 79, was detained at the main airport in the capital Manila after returning to the Philippines from Hong Kong on Tuesday and was charged with crimes against humanity.
The former leader oversees the fierce crackdown on drug promoters in Southeast Asian countries, aiming with a ruthless attitude, a crime industry that sparks widespread anger among his supporters.
The crackdown killed more than 6,000 people based on police data, although independent monitors believe the number of extrajudicial killings could be higher.
