U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to buy Tesla to support Doge Chief Elon Musk after electric carmakers face drops in stocks and boycotts amid a partnership between the billionaire CEO and the White House.
Trump is eager to defend Musk against the so-called “radical left madman” who protested Tesla across the United States in a new show led by the government’s Department of Efficiency.
“For Republicans, conservatives and all the great Americans, Elon Musk is ‘putting it on the line’ to help our country, he did a great job!” Trump wrote Society of Truth shortly after midnight on Tuesday.
“But as they often do, radical left madman tries to illegally and collide against one of the world’s great automakers, and Elon’s “baby” to attack and cause harm to Elon, and everything he represents.”
The president said he would buy Tesla in the morning to “show confidence”, and he is also the CEO of SpaceX and social media platform X.
“Anyway, I will buy a brand new Tesla tomorrow morning to show confidence and support for the truly great American Elon Musk,” he wrote. “Why are you punished to work hard to help make America great again?”
EV manufacturers’ shares have fallen by nearly a third since Trump’s initial rise. Tesla’s stock has fallen more than 28% last month, nearly 32%.
Protests protesting against Musk and his administration cuts have emerged in numerous Tesla dealerships across the country, including the Manhattan showroom, with six protesters arrested on Saturday.
Last month, a Tesla dealership in Colorado was damaged when a 40-year-old woman allegedly sprayed “Nazi cars” on the building and threw a Molotov cocktail on the vehicle on the property.
Tesla owners also reported that their cars have become targets for anti-toxic and sabotage. Some owners replaced the Tesla logo on the ride with badges from other automakers to thwart potential saboteurs and/or distance the doorhead and his political beliefs.
