Police Inspector General Kayode Egbetokun directed that all police officers serving as assistant training camps (ADCs) shall not be allowed to post higher than Deputy Director of Police (DSP).

The directive is effective immediately and is included in the police wireless message of March 10, 2025. The message has been involved in all commands, units and departments and is signed by the Minister of Forces.

Titled CB: 4001/FS/FHQ/ABJ/V.12/421 Orders and Directives, the message states that certain ADCs assigned to the Governor retain positions despite the task level specified exceeding such tasks.

Naija News The directive requires strict compliance for all police departments, units and orders to be enforced, and emphasizes the need to be handled in the most important way.

The wireless message obtained by Saharareporter on Thursday reads, “The Inspector General of Police (INGENPOL) observed with frustration that the Assistant Bootcamp (ADC) deployed to the Governor is still maintaining its responsibilities after being promoted to designated positions for such deployment.

“So, he firmly stated that thereafter, officials appointed to the Executive Governor as an Assistant Boot Camp (ADC) should not be higher than the Deputy Director of Police (DSP). Police Commissioners (combinations) in all states are for your strict compliance. Please treat it very important.”

The Assistant Boot Camp (ADC) is a senior police officer designed to serve as personal assistants and security details for senior officials, including the governor.

However, in recent years, some ADC officials have been promoted to DSP levels and are still serving as ADCs.

The development reportedly created tensions within the police structure, raising concerns about preference, the governor’s excessive impact on police actions, and potential disciplinary issues within the troops.
