    Just in: Representatives approve President Tinubu’s tax reform bill

    • The House has approved four tax reform bills transmitted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

    • The bill aims to reform the tax system in Nigeria, including the establishment of new tax services and the repeal of certain tax laws.

      Finance Committee Chairman James Faleke said due diligence has been completed and issues of public concern have been addressed.

    The House has approved four tax reform bills transmitted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Bill, the bill was considered and adopted by the House of Representatives on Thursday, March 13, 2025.

    These bills include a bill that requires the assessment, collection and accounting of revenues from federal, federal, state and local governments; the powers and functions of prescription tax authorities, and related matters.

    Another bill is a bill that repeals the Federal Inland Tax Services (Installation) Act No. 13 of 2007 and enacts the Nigerian Tax Services (Installation) Act to establish Nigerian tax services and collects the power to assess, collect and calculate taxes, which should be included in the federal government and related matters.

    The other two bills are to establish the offices of the Joint Revenue Committee, the Tax Appeal Tribunal and the Tax Supervision Commission to coordinate, coordinate and resolve tax administration and related matters in Nigeria and a bill, as well as a bill, to eliminate certain tax and scope of taxation frameworks for taxation and taxation taxation.

    “As the issue of public concern has been resolved, due diligence has been completed,” said James Faleke, chairman of the Finance Committee, in his review of the report.

    Representatives requested immediate suspension of CBN’s ATM allegations of interest rate hike

    The House has requested an immediate suspension of the increase in ATM transaction fees and demanded that ATM withdrawals be stopped from ATM withdrawals from other banks imposed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

    According to lawmakers, CBN has raised the directive to use other banks’ ATMs to stop withdrawing allegations for clients and has stopped free ATM withdrawals, imposing an additional financial burden on Nigerians.
