President Bola Tinubu said Nigeria would go bankrupt if his government did not enforce its rule when it came to power in May 2023.
According to him, Nigeria has been passing on unborn money for generations over the years while supplying fuel to the West Coast region.
He said this when he was in the reception of a delegation of former National Assembly colleagues from the Third Republic who had a miscarriage, during which he served as a senator representing Lagos West.
“For 50 years, Nigeria has been spending money for generations, unborn and serving our subregion with fuel. Planning for the future of our children has become increasingly difficult,
When I took over, we were facing a serious headwind and it was a very challenging time. If we don’t take action and we have to prevent the economic collapse, it will be bankrupt. President Tinob announced that the government has been able to stop the trend and expressed his gratitude to the Nigerians for their collective support in turning the situation around.
Today, we sit on a good foundation. We’ve turned the problem around. The exchange rate is stabilizing. Food prices fell, especially during Ramadan. We will have lights at the end of the tunnel. ”
