The United Nations has pledged to consider a petition filed by supporters of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, asking Senator Natasha Akpoti-uduagha to provide evidence of sexual harassment.

Representative of the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator, Adwoa KufurSupporters of Governor Akwa Ibom gave assurances when they visited the UN building in Abuja on Friday.

Kufs’ side: “Thank you for bringing us this petition. We will pay attention to this. ”

Earlier Irene Imoh He said on behalf of the protesters that the motive for the protest was the evidence of sexual harassment by Akpoti-uduagha, adding that it was not enough to accuse her.

According to the IMOH, if an embattled MP can provide concrete evidence, it will help more women speak out and be taken seriously whenever she raises the alarm for harassment or sexual harassment.

Imoh said:We meet today in the famous United Nations House of Representatives to express our support for His Excellency, the president of 10th Senator Goldville Obumpabio.

“In the past few weeks, he has suffered serious reputational damage due to allegations of sexual harassment by his colleague Natasha Akpoti-uduaghan.

“When we are at a critical moment in the fight against sexual misconduct, the allegations made by Senator Akpoti-uduaghan against Senator Akpabio have attracted serious concern and require a thorough review.

“It is important to remember that in any allegations of misconduct, the burden of proof is on the plaintiff. If Senator Natasha claims to be a victim of sexual harassment, we urge her to provide reliable evidence to support her allegations. The gravity of such claims requires accountability.

“We are particularly bothered by the growing trend of abuse of #believeallwomen spells, which could inadvertently cover up baseless allegations against men.

This is not the first time Senator Natasha has made serious charges against a prominent figure. Such actions have the potential to become her weapon against those in power, undermining our core principles against sexual violence.

“As women’s mothers and pioneers of change for women, we are acutely aware of the implications of false allegations. This claim not only hurts the defendants, but also weakens the experiences of the true survivors.

“We call on Senator Natasha to provide concrete evidence of her claims against Senator Akpabio. If reliable evidence is provided, we will commit to ensuring service to justice.

“Our peaceful protest today is not only about demanding justice; it also about holding both sides accountable. Senator Akpabio must have a chance to clear his name, and Senator Akpoti-uduaghan must prove that she was sexually abused.”
