Student arrested for suspected St. @bbing's teacher

A 10th grade student was arrested for allegedly being a teacher St@bbing in a dispute at Kgabareng Middle School in Viljoenskroon.

According to Howard Ndaba, a spokesman for the Free State Department of Education, the incident occurred on Monday, March 10, when the teacher faced the 21-year-old student at the allegedly late arrival.

“When teachers resolved the matter as part of the school process, it was reported that the situation was still escalating. The situation surrounding the incident was still under review to ensure a fair and objective understanding of what happened,” Ndaba said.

The department announced that psychosocial support services will be deployed to provide counseling and emotional support to learners and teachers affected by the incident to ensure their well-being and promote a safe learning environment.

Mec Mantlhake Maboya condemned the attack, while the South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) condemned violence against educators.

Ndaba added that the department will work with law enforcement officers to curb violence and social ills in schools, thereby strengthening efforts to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.
