Former Senate President Lawan denied alleged plans to dump APC on SDP.
Nigeria News Nalin Former Senate President Ahmed Lawan dismissed speculations, suggesting he was planning to go from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and described such reports as false and unfounded.
Lawan, who represents the Senate District of Yobe North, confirmed his firm commitment to APC, the party he has been in contact with since he was founded.
In a statement issued by the former Senate president on Sunday, the former Senate president debunked the poster and misled him to connect with the SDP and insisted that his loyalty to the ruling party remained intact.
“The attention of the office of the 9th Senate President Ahmad Lawan, the prominent senator representing Yobe North, was drawn to misleading reports and posters circulating in some ways, and hinted that he was ready to leave the APC to the SDP.
“We want to make it clear that these reports are completely wrong, unfounded, and have no merits. Senator Ahmad Lawan remains a firm and loyal member of all the Progressive Assembly (APC), with whom he proudly established the party he has established. He remains a key stakeholder of the APC and will continue to work with the Party and the Government to ensure the success of its collective goals,” he said. Statement reading.
Lawn also used the opportunity to remind the public of his long-standing political consistency and noted that he has never defected from either side throughout his 25-year political career.
“For the sake of record, Ahmad Lawan is one of the few politicians in Nigeria who have no record of defection in 25 years of his outstanding political career in the National Assembly. In 1999, he was elected to the House of Representatives and transitioned to the Senate on the platform of the All People’s Party (APP) in 2007, and later renamed the All Nigerian People’s Party (ANP). ANPP is one of the three minorities that created the APC on February 6, 2013.” Added a statement.
Lawan further reiterated his support for the Yobe State President Bola Tinubu government and Governor Mai Mala Buni, saying their leadership was progressive and transformative.
He said “Senator Lau’an is firmly convinced of the APC’s vision and principles and continues to work tirelessly with other party leaders and members to strengthen the party and improve the agenda of its nation to improve our country.”
“He also expressed strong support for the policies and reforms of the government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He believes the government is committed to changing Nigeria and responding to the challenges of the country.”
