
Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the notorious kidnappers in the Awanga local government area of the state!
The commander’s spokesman, SP Ramhan Nansel, revealed this in a statement Saturday, March 15, 2025, saying the suspect was intercepted by police, army and locally vigilant joint patrols near Akwanga Central Mosque.
According to PPRO, the suspect who had been on the command’s wanted list tried to evade arrest and was shot and killed by security operators.
“The Nasarawa State Police Department has worked with the Nigerian army and local vigilant organizations in the process of relentlessly curbing criminal activities to successfully neutralize the infamous kidnappers in the joint security operation in Akwanga, Nasarawa State, and successfully neutralize the infamous kidnappers,” the statement said.
“This achievement took place on March 14, 2025, about 2,200 hours when security agents tracked the suspect and were identified as Abdullahi (unknown last name), also known as “honor,” a well-known armed robber and kidnapper who had been on multiple charges in his orders.
“While riding a motorcycle, he was stopped near the Central Mosque of Akwanga. During the operation, the suspect tried to escape arrest and was fatally shot.
“The search for the suspect led to: a Bereta pistol without bridge numbers, twelve rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
“A cohort managed to escape the gunshot wounds and is currently conducting a search to arrest the fleeing suspect.
“The body of the suspect in the deceased has been evacuated to the post-mortem examination at Akwanga General Hospital.
“Police Commissioner CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed praised the operators’ professional behavior and effective cooperation. He urged them to maintain momentum in an ongoing struggle with the ongoing criminals in the state.
“Reaffirming the commitment to maintaining law and order, the police warn all criminals to avoid their evil activities or facing decisive action.”
