The Super Eagles at Nigeria Training Camp are taking shape ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with some of the players already in the camp before their first match against Rwanda.
Nigeria’s head coach Eric Sekou Chelle arrived in Kigali on Sunday night to accompany his entire coaching staff, local player Kayode Bankole, goalkeeper of Remo Stars and midfielder Papa Daniel from the Niger Tornado. This marks the beginning of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers scheduled for Friday, March 21, against Rwanda.
Genk’s international player Tolu Arokodare, Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen and Olympiacos’s Bruno Onyemaechi joined the camp early Monday morning. The remaining foreign players are expected to arrive throughout the day, fully prepared for the highly anticipated conflict at the Amahoro Stadium.
Currently, Nigeria is ranked fifth in Group C with only three points, recording three draws and losses. Both teams have won one game since their first encounter on June 4, 2004, and three games ended in a draw.
Chelle’s team will aim to win to improve their position and overcome the recent struggle in Rwanda.
The current players at the Nigerian camp are:
- Victor Osimhen
- Bruno’s Bruno
- Papa Daniel Mustapha
- Banking
- Toul Arokodare
