Preston forward Milutin Osmajic has been charged by the Football Association after accusing racist abuse.

The incident happened on February 15 in the championship game against Burnley against Burnley, Osmajic allegedly made racist comments against Claires midfielder Hannibal Mejbri.

On Monday, the FA confirmed that the Osmajis were accused of acting in an inappropriate manner under FA Rule E3 and responding next Tuesday.

A statement on the FA website said: “Milutin Osmajic violated FA Rule E3 in the championship game between Preston and Burnley on Saturday, February 15.

“Further allegedly, this constitutes the aggravated violation as defined in FA Rule E3.2, as it includes color and/or ethnic references, both explicitly and implied.”

The intense exchange between Mejbri and Osmajic led to Burnley players talking to referee Andrew Kitchen, who continued the game until it was replaced in the 71st minute.

A statement on Preston’s website acknowledged the Football Association’s allegations, adding that Osmajik continued to “strongly deny” the allegations. “Preston admitted that the FA paid for Milodin Osmaji’s allegations after the championship game against Burnley last month,” the statement said.

“Milandin continues to strongly deny allegations of color and/or race using abuse of language and will provide a formal response to the FA allegations in due course and the club will not comment any further until the end of the case.”
