Ghana President John Mahama’s verification X account has been hacked for 48 hours recently, during which cybercriminals have promoted a fraudulent cryptocurrency project called Solanafrica.
According to his spokesman Kwakye Ofosu, the hackers mistakenly claimed that the project was led by Mahama to use the Solana blockchain to pay for free in Africa.
The hackers urged Mahama’s followers to invest in the program and claimed it was a revolutionary initiative.
Mahama’s team noted Sunday’s violation and removed fraudulent posts.
However, the account continues to share cryptocurrency-related content, including tips on launching new members.
He also warned the public to ignore any suspicious cryptocurrency-related posts from the handle.
“The President’s X account has been damaged and we have taken action to regain control.

“The account has now been fully restored and we urge the public to ignore any suspicious cryptocurrency-related positions from the handle,” Ofosu told AFP on Tuesday.
Mahama posted on account X on Tuesday: “My team has recovered my account and worked with the X support team.
