Kenneth Okonkwo’s actor and former Labor spokesman described President Bola Tinubu as illegal and unconstitutional in the Rivers State Emergency Declaration.
Okonkwo responded to the suspension of Siminalayi Fubara and the state’s legislators for six months, the president used his powers to surpass his powers.
In a post posted on X, the lawyer said that in this case, restoring peace should not involve the removal of representatives of elected people.
Lawyers and actors cite former President Goodluck Jonathan’s case, namely in three northeastern states (Borno Adamawa and Yobe), and lawyers and actors say democratically elected buildings have not been removed.
“The security in Nigeria is the exclusive reservation of the federal government, which controls all security forces.
“It is wrong to blame the governor on the security failure of the River Federal Government,” Okonkwo said.
He said that if Tinubu was serious, his punishment should be extended to cabinet members.
“In this regard, I urge the National Assembly to refuse the illegal removal of elected river representatives and declare it undemocratic.
“There is a predator of a state who refuses to give them the key to the river state wallet because they, with the support of the river people, their governor needs to remove his governor so that the president can try to remove him through the back door.
“Unfortunately, the current president will help unveil our democratic powers.
