Customs seized gasoline worth $72.6 million and headed to Cameroon River Benue River

Adamawa and Taraba Customs commands capture the Advanced Automotive Spirit (PMS), commonly known as gasoline, worth more than 72.6 million.

The order attributes epilepsy to its ongoing efforts to maintain the economy and protect the state’s territorial borders from illegal cross-border smuggling.

Introducing reporters at Yola’s command headquarters on Wednesday, Auditor General Garba Bashir revealed that the seized gasoline was being transported to Cameroon through the Benue Waterways River.

“The headquarters agents have caused another heavy blow to smugglers through shared intelligence, technology leverage and coordinated border management,” Bashir said.

He assured him that under his watch, Adamawa and Talaba Customs Command would be the inability zone for smugglers.

He swore: “We have begun strangling smugglers and we will continue to strangle them and suffocate them until the smuggling is removed from the order.”

He further revealed that at about 3:30 am, agents attacked the Banue River Bank of the Benue River at about 3:30 am and found 240 liters and 220 liters drums were well arranged to be treated through the waterways in Cameroon.

Bashir issued a harsh warning to smugglers, urging them to abandon illegal trade.

He warned: “For smugglers and economic disruptors, I encourage you to abandon illegal trade activities and accept real business as Nigerian Customs Services forces are promoting legal trade and are ready to undermine efforts to smuggle cartels to give fresh air to the country’s economy.”
