    Farmer arrested for stealing three bags of pineapples in Ogun

    Farmer arrested for stealing three bags of pineapples in Ogun

    Ogun State Police Command has arrested Oloyede David, a 53-year-old farmer, allegedly stole three bags of pineapples from a farmer’s plantation in Orile-Ilugun, Oodeda Local Government, Oodeda Local Government.

    Another farmer allegedly found David’s harvest of pineapple belonging to an indigenous Ola Omotayo, Ilesa, Osun state.

    Witnesses said: “The farm belongs to the natives of Ilesha. A local farmer in the area found the suspect, not his.

    Omolola Odutola, spokesman for the Ogun State Police Department, confirmed the arrest, and Omola Odutola said officials from Orile-Ilugun Outtast arrested the suspect at about 11:58 a.m. Tuesday, March 18.

    “The farmers who arrested the suspects for harvesting pineapples quickly reminded other farmers in the area who helped arrest David,” Odutola said.

    “The suspect was caught in three bags of pineapples, worth about n90,000. The farmer arrived at the scene shortly afterwards and confirmed the theft. Omotayo further claimed that the pineapples were worth about N650,000, and a past ammunition pump worth N180,000 was stolen from her farm.”

    Odutola added that David was taken to the police station along with the recycled produce, and the district crime department has taken over the case.
