Oyo Police Bust Group specializes in excavating buried corpses and selling body parts to ritualists

Oyo State Police Command destroyed a joint organization in Ibadan that specializes in burying corpses and selling their body parts.

Command spokesman CSP Osifeso Adewale revealed this in a statement Friday, March 21, 2025, saying police agents arrested the body parts of two group members, Ridwan Bello and Fatai Adeleke.

“On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, about 0230 hours, a detective from the Iyaganku department police headquarters, acting on tips, conducted a search at a residence of Ridwan Bello, a 35-year-old, also known as Asalailu, also known as Asalailu, located in the Muslim area of Ibadan,” the statement said.

“During the search, a female human torso and other dismembered human remains, including cut limbs and dry bones, were stored in bags and paint buckets were recycled.

“Bello claimed in his confession that the body had been dug out from the cemetery in Awa-Ijebu, the local government area in northern Iyebu, Ogun State, and admitted to selling the body parts to the etiquette. Later, he brought the detective to the cemetery and was verified under the circumstances he claimed.

“The further confession of the suspect led to the arrest of a Fatai Adeleke, 70, who purchased human parts from the suspect for ritual purposes.

Adelake also admitted that he was involved in the illegal trade of the human body.

“The case has been transferred to the homicide case of the state’s criminal investigation department for detailed investigations as efforts are being strengthened to identify and arrest all involved.
