Ikenga Ugochinyere, a member of the House of Representatives, said Friday’s Supreme Court decision was a powerful weapon for the party to formally fire Sen. Samuel Anyanwu as state secretary and suspend minister Nyesom Wike, the federal capital territory.
He claimed in a statement Friday that the judgment confirmed that internal party affairs were not visible, which led to the “baseless” court taking any further lawsuits.
He noted that the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) could now invoke disciplinary measures, including adopting recommendations from the Tom Ikimi report, which previously led to the moratorium on Anyanwu.
“Supreme Court’s judgment on the PDP secretary issue is a powerful weapon to help fire Anyanwu, pause [FCT Minister Nyesom] Vick, rebuild the party,” Ugochinyere said in a statement.
He stressed that in the 18-member NWC, most favored the removal of Anyanwu, and his new moratorium was irreversible even if he was challenged in court.
“By this judgment, the NWC meeting was held immediately, and if it was not held, they should use two-thirds to summon it and immediately invoke the NWC’s power in most cases, acting on behalf of the NEC/National Congress in extreme cases like the following. ” He added.
He further urged the PDP members not to be shocked by the ruling and asserted that it would not automatically restore Anyanwu. Instead, he described it as a strategic opening to the party’s leaders “end the madness” and restore opposition to order within the party.
In addition to Anyanwu, Ugochinyer also called for disciplinary action against FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who accused him of “damaging” the party over the years. He urged PDP leaders to remain firm and not be affected by external influences.
“I commend NWC members who refuse to buy or compromise for staying strong and immediately use their majority to pause/fire Anyanwu and his father Wike to end all this crazy, which brings PDP vibrant PDP and a vibrant state of helplessness,” said Dr. He announced.
