    The Governor of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) outlines plans to challenge the emergency rule of River State.

    Naija News Reports say this is after President Bola Tinubu’s decision imposed on Tuesday Emergency Rulesdissolve the state government and appoint an administrator to oversee state affairs.

    The governor revealed their intentions at the Zoom meeting and made it clear that they would challenge the declaration.

    In the communiqué signed by the Chairman of the PDP Governor Forum and the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammedthe governor reiterated their commitment to upholding the Constitution, defending democratic governance and ensuring the rule of law in Nigeria.

    The communiqué reads:The forum took advantage of the bureau’s opportunity to review the unfortunate announcement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the national broadcast of River State River State on Tuesday, March 18, 2025; and was frowned by the so-called moratorium on Rivers State Governor, Lieutenant Governor and River State Assembly members. ”

    The statement continued: “The forum reaffirms its commitment to upholding the Constitution, defending democratic governance, and ensuring that the rule of law prevails in Nigeria, and therefore, we are determined to direct our lawyers generals to challenge Article 305(3) of the Nigerian Constitution in a PDP-controlled country and be amended by the Nigerian Constitution and judged by judges. ”

    The governor also expressed their solidarity with the people of the state during this challenging political period.

    “The forum is in solidarity with his Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers and the good people who have been very difficult and difficult times in the political history of the state, the good people of Rivers StateThe communiqué said.

    They urged the people of River State and Nigerians to not lose hope, despite being described as “brutal intimidation.”

    They said:The forum ordered the people of River State and Nigerians to face this cruel intimidation and not to despair. ”
