Don’t blame Wick, but PDP elders like Bode George do not pay 28 years of land rent

Senior special assistant to FCT’s public communications and new media minister Lere Olayinka said the Democratic Democratic Party (PDP) elders, such as Bode George, should be blamed for the party because it failed to pay ground rent for 28 years after its national secretariat in Abuja revoked land.

Naija News It was reported that Olayinka released his principal, Nyesom Wike, in a statement on Saturday, March 22, 2025, noting that in the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), Bode George (NWC) failed to end the purchase of Wadata Plaza National Secretary PDP, which is interesting, and he may tell him on national television that he has crossed the minister on national television.

In an interview on Arise TV on Friday, Bode George said Wike’s action was a public declaration of war against the PDP.

In response, Olekin said elders like Bode George could choose to play ostrich on a matter of such a huge amount, just like revoking the 4,794 land titles, which is painful because they have been less than 43 years of not paying ground rent.

Olayinka clarified that the party does not own the property of Wadata Plaza and was used as the Secretariat, but it belongs to Senator Samaila Mamman Kurfi, who was purchased from Wadata Enterprises Nigerprises Nigeria Limited.

Wick’s assistant further advised Bode George to start operating like an objective elder and seek information instead of promoting hatred for the FCT minister on TV.

The statement added “Why is the PDP not paying 20 years of ground rent on its land parcel No. 243 (under construction), which is the sole property of the party among the 4,794 revoked titles? How is the consequence of the execution of the consequences of the land owner of the government refusing to pay ground rent under WAR? Land rent paid?

“The PDP proposed to purchase the Wadata Plaza property in 2005 and asked the party to pay 26.9 million n26.9 million when seeking the minister’s consent.

“At the time, the party wrote a letter to FCT Minister Malam Nasir El-Rufai to give up payments, claiming that he lacked the financial ability to pay, but he (El-Rufai) insisted that the party must pay.

El-Rufai, who insists that the PDP must pay the necessary fees to the government, is a member of the party, while Chief Bode George in the PDP NWC has not accused him of (El-Rufai) of announcing a declaration of war against the party and has not paid 28 million years and 28 million years.

“In the PDP National Secretariat in the Central Region, Wike’s fault is that he was owed 20 years of land rent, although more than 21 billion guilds were raised in 2014 to complete the building’s completion?

“What should have been done was to seek information, not to go on TV to promote hatred for the minister, he was just doing his job without looking at someone else’s face.

“If Chief Bode George had sought necessary information and refrained himself from acting out of hatred for Wike, it would have been known to him that also affected by the revocation were government owned institutions like Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Borno State Government, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), National University Commission (NUC), Kaduna State Government, Nigeria Port Authority (NPA), Nigeria News Agency (NAN), Federal Ministry of Environment, Nigeria Security Printing Company, University of Calabar and University of Nigeria Postal Service and Nigeria Postal Service Company (PHCN).

“As I asked before, is Chief George George going to be the Minister of FCT, and is he treating PDP differently than the other 4,793 land ownership owners?”
