A married Nigerian woman living in Germany explains why she doesn't

Olawande, a married Nigerian woman living in Germany, revealed that she did not want children and gave reasons for her decision.

In the video she posted online, the married woman said she had been married for three years and she kept asking her family and friends when she and her friends had children. She mentioned that she loved her children and found them great and even cute when a person could return them to her parents. She said the comments she received from women with financial burdens, stress and sacrifices constituted her perception of the child.

As women, we sacrifice a lot of marriages, especially when we have children. Honestly, people not only have children because they bring happiness, but also because they have obligations to social pressures and family expectations. In many cultures, especially religious cultures, women are grown in the belief that their purpose of life is maternity. It’s not even your choice, it’s what you’re going to do, and I’m not the one who follows outdated society’s expectations. This is the 21st century and women should be allowed to make their own decisions. ”
