The only administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-ett, deputy administrator (retired), urged the contractor to handle the reconstruction of the National Parliament building to speed up the pace of work and meet the agreed timeline.

Ibas stressed that one of his tasks is to restore comprehensive and effective legislative activities in the state.

He made a statement in an inspection of the ongoing construction of the rally complex on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt Local Government Area.

Monier Construction Company Limited is working on the project, which involves the construction of a two-story building with 34 ensuite offices, an elevator, a gallery, conference rooms and conference halls.

Ibas, accompanied by River State civil servant George Nwaeke, was directed by Omaka Oko, general manager of Monier Construction Company.

In his speech, Ibas stressed that after taking office, he observed a gap in the state’s governance structure, especially in the legislative department. He stressed the importance of providing a conducive environment for legislative activities.

“I used to be in the executive branch of the state’s governance structure, and one of the pillars that is missing now is the legislature. To make them work effectively, they need a place to work,” IBAS explained.

He further added “Maybe, I haven’t determined whether the work is going as expected, so by the end of six months, this place will be ready for those who need to use it. The contractors have a schedule and schedule that they have to follow, and the state provides the necessary funding for the project.”

IBAS expressed confidence that the contractor will fulfill its commitments and meet established deadlines, noting that the responsibility for the projects agreed upon now now belongs to the contractor.

“The responsibility lies with them to ensure they comply with the terms.” He reiterated.

The sole administrator also reiterated his commitment to maintaining law and order in the state, a key part of his efforts to ensure that the river state returns to its proper governance.

“I was appointed to maintain law and order, which will enable the country to return to what it should have been.” Ibas concluded.

The successful completion of the project will play a key role in restoring the state’s legislative functions and ensure smooth operation within six months set by the government.
