Eze Chukwuemeka Eze’s All Progressive Conference (APC) has called for the immediate and unconditional restoration of the democratic structure of the state after President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency.
Eze, a former national propaganda secretary, the now-defunct New People’s Democratic Party (NPDP), expressed dissatisfaction with the president’s actions and pointed out that they were directly showing Nigeria’s constitution and authoritarianism.
Naija News Eze condemned President Tinubu’s decision to suspend River Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy prime minister Ngozi Odu and state legislators, the report said.
He described the action as “premeditated, highly condemned, unconstitutional, condemned and undemocratic”, believing it was driven by the political motivations of the ongoing conflict between Governor Fobara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
The Chief of APC noted in a statement provided to reporters on Monday “The inaction, bias and unjust moratorium of Mr. President’s deputy governor, his agent and the legislative branch of the Rivers Government, Mr. Lucidly Lucilly holds the constitutional powers of Ultra Vires and reveals his prejudice in the lingering hostility among the main gladiators.”
Eze asked President Tinubu to revoke his decision, noting that Article 305 of the Nigerian Constitution will not grant the president the power to suspend the election of governor or any state official in an emergency.
He stressed that Article 188 outlines the correct constitutional process for dismissal or the lieutenant governor, which specifies reasons for dismissal through impeachment.
“The President’s unpatriotic and myopic actions against authoritarianism and portrays it [Tinubu] As a self-proclaimed dictator, Ez said further accusing the president of undermining Nigeria’s democratic institutions for securing political advantage in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Ez also criticized Tinubu for handling political crises in the river, indicating a lack of mention of Nyesom Wike in the president aired on March 18, 2025. According to Eze, there is no mention of Wike’s role, which reveals the president’s bias in the matter.
“On March 18, 2025, the national broadcast made it clear that the president blamed the governor only for refusing to be Wick’s puppet,” Eze said he accused Tinubu and APC leadership of planning the crisis to further develop its political agenda.
Legal action threatens if action does not reverse
Chief Eze vowed to take legal action against federal Attorney General Tinubu, and the River State administrator will also take legal action if the governor of Forbala is not revoked within seven days.
He stressed that President Tinobu not only violated the Constitution, but also denied the Rivers people’s right to democratically elect its leaders, and that President Tinobu not only violated the Constitution.
“President Tinob, the APC hierarchy, the leadership of the National Assembly and how Wike feels knowing that even the name of the FCT minister (Wike) is not mentioned in the president’s broadcast?” Ez asked.
Eze concluded that the political consequences of Tinubu’s declaration of the emergency made the president a biased and insincere leader.
“The episode that led to the announcement of the Emergency in Rivers State only saw Tinob as a biased and biased arbiter and could not be regarded as a sincere and honest president.” He asserted.
