Police arrest funeral for beating a woman for beating her husband

Detectives arrested three individuals at the funeral of Nyabisimba in Nyamira County, Kenya, who beat a woman in the cemetery.

The Criminal Incitement Bureau (DCI) revealed this in a statement on Monday night, March 24, 2025.

According to DCI, the woman who was separated from the deceased a few years ago was contacted by her mother-in-law and asked her child to be brought to her father’s funeral.

The woman was ambushed by her in-laws, who insisted that she participate in throwing the soil into the graveyard.

When she refuses their request, they attack her cruelly, accusing her of being responsible for the estranged husband’s d3ath.

“The suspects, Robert Pokea Sarudi, 43, Bismark Ondiek Sarudi, 40, and Lameck Ogindo Osoro, 27, allegedly forced the woman to attend a traditional ceremony against her will, and they beat her up the injury she suffered on her body,” the statement said.

“This incident happened on March 21, 2025, when the woman who had married her ex-husband for more than nine years found herself in a disturbing family dispute.

“After being separated from her ex-husband and lost for many years, her mother-in-law contacted her and asked her to bring her child to her father’s funeral after the road accident.

“When the grieving family gathered to say goodbye, the woman was ambushed by her in-laws, who insisted that she attended the funeral where the soil was thrown into the grave. When she refused their request, they reportedly released a cruel attack, accusing her of taking charge of her husband’s D3Ath.
