Former Police Minister Oyewale Adesiyan has urged the federal government to declare a state of emergency in Osun state.

Naija News The report said that there have been unrest in Oxenia recently, from political crises to community conflicts.

In a statement yesterday in the state capital Osogbo, Adesiyan based his appeal on Article 305 of the Nigerian Constitution.

He stressed that due to the political instability of Orson State and the ineffective governors to manage the delicate situation, the appropriate part of the Constitution was carefully activated to restore order in the state.

He said:As observers of events that have occurred in Osun State over the past few months, we can see the state’s law and order breakdown. From the beginning of the local government crisis, the state governor refused to comply with the announcement of the Court of Appeal and attempted to appeal the Court of Appeal in the Supreme Court of the country in the case that the country has ruled and unknown.

“If the CEO is addicted to a place where disobeys the law, the ultimate effect is a state of anarchy. This incident has resulted in the deaths of dozens of innocent people, including Remi Abass, chairman of Amy Local Government Recovery.

“Because of the political instability of Osen State and the incompetent governors to deal with the situation of a vulnerable state, I think it’s better to invoke the relevant parts of the Constitution to restore peace to Osen State.”

Adesiyan further regrets that many were killed during the control of the parliamentary crisis, adding that dozens of people have also been killed and displaced in recent public conflicts.
