Hunters are said to have shot themselves at a hunting meeting in the state.
After his tragic demise, a family member of a hunter in Ogun State was placed in mourning.
The hunter, identified as Taiwo Bolugbe, reportedly died while hunting with five other people in the Agenavo area, in Ibese, Ibese, the North North Local Government, Ogun State, and five other people.
It is reported that the incident occurred around 4.30 pm on March 23, 2025.
CSP Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident, police public relations officer PPRO said five kther hunters have been arrested for the incident:
The accident occurred around 1500 hours when victim Taiwo Bolugbe tried to retrieve a hunted animal. His Danish gun was reportedly slipped off his shoulder and was accidentally discharged, hitting his neck and jaw fatally. Despite the hunter’s efforts saving lives, he succumbed to injury.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation. The Police Command urged the public to exercise caution when dealing with guns, even during hunting, to prevent tragic events. explain
