A 31-year-old Nigerian man, Adimabua Chukwuka, has been charged with accusing first-degree M8rder in D3ath of a homeless man in Toronto, Canada.
Toronto police said they arrested Chukwuka on Friday afternoon, March 21, 2025, and found D3AD near the University of Toronto campus for several hours.
Investigators said they had alleged videos of Chukwuka allegedly using debris (probably from a trash can or a construction site) to repeatedly attack Ferreira, who was lying on a bench at around 5:20 a.m. Thursday.
“Police has arrested a man allegedly assaulted, and K arrested a ruthless man without warning or provocation,” Toronto police revealed in a statement.
“On Friday, March 21, 2025, homicide investigators released a photo of the suspect and shortly afterwards, 31-year-old Adimabua Chukwuka of Toronto was arrested and charged with a first-degree M8rder.
“On March 20, police responded to a call from the University of Toronto Campus Safety Special Police officer involving a man lying on the ground near 144 College St. on University Street. He had obvious injuries, was unconscious, and had no breathing.
“We are committed to providing justice to Mr. Ferreira and his loved ones,” added Det.-Sgt. Trevor Sorrow. “We ask anyone who might see something, no matter how small, to call immediately.”
Investigators have been working around the clock to collect evidence and review security footage in the surrounding area, Greeve said.
“We are continuing to use canvas for other videos and information,” he said.
According to video footage reviewed so far, the victim lay on a bench near the Crescent of Queens Park No. 6, when the suspect armed himself with debris, probably from a construction site or a nearby trash can.
“Without warning or provocation, the suspect approached Mr. Ferreira, who lay on the bench and beat him repeatedly and violently with the debris. He then took the debris he used to commit the attack with the debris.”
He asked anyone in the area to contact the homicide investigator at the time.
“If you see anything suspicious in the Queens Park area between 5 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., or if you recognize the person in the image we are going to post today, please contact the police. Your information is crucial.”
The homicide officer urged the suspect to seek legal counsel and turn himself into a police officer.
Meanwhile, Chukwuka has a history of violent criminal charges, including attempted M8rder and use of weapons assault.
The Toronto police show Chukwuka’s past news release was accused of committing multiple crimes in separate incidents in 2014 and 2022.
