Nigeria News Nalin The report said the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) has released some new details about the attempts of some members to recall Senator Natasha Akputi Akputi-Udowahan, a member of the Kogi Central MP.

The Nigerian news platform learned that INEC said in its latest news on Tuesday that Natasha Akpoti’s recall petition lacks full contact information for petitioners required under Article 1 (f).

The petition only includes the phone number of the chief petitioner and the address is listed only as “Okene, Kogi State, Kogi State.”

Statement issued by INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voters Education Committee Oren himselfthe committee noted that the petition lacked the inclusion of contact information such as address, phone number and email address.

It added that the Kogi Central Senate petition was accompanied by six bags of documents, which were said to be a signature collected from 474,554 registered voters in 57 registration zones (WARDS), which was collected in 57 registration zones (WARDS) in Ajakuta, Ajakuta, Ogori/Magono/Magono, Okeene.

The statement added that once the petition meets the submission requirements, INEC should begin verification of signatures in each voting unit in an open process limited to registered voters who sign the petition only.

Therefore, it urged the pubic MP to ignore any other information on social media about the recall process Senator Natasha.

Declare read: “The committee held regular weekly meetings on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. Among other issues, the meeting discussed the petition for the recall of senators representing the Senate District of Kogi Central Senate.

“The recall process is available on our website in the Constitution of 1999, the Election Act of 2022 and the Commission’s detailed regulations and the guidelines for recalls 2024. All petitions will strictly adhere to the legal framework.

“The petition for the Kogi Central Senate District was accompanied by six bags of documents, which was said to be a signature collected from 474,554 registered voters of 902 voting units (WARDS) of 57 registry districts (WARDS) that was collected in 57 registry units (WARDS) of Ajakuta, Ajakuta, Ogori/Magono/Magono, Okeene, Okeene, Okeene and Oke.

“The committee’s immediate observation is that the representatives of the petitioner did not provide their contact address, telephone number and email address (ES) in the cover letter to forward the petition that can be contacted in accordance with Article 1 (f) of our regulations and guidelines, and our address is “OKENE, KOGI NOCE in oke in oke in oke in oke in oke in oke in oke in the Petition”, which is a location that does not belong to the basis of all other representatives of the petitioner.

“The Committee wishes to reiterate that the recall of legislators is a privilege for registered voters among voters who have signed a petition indicating a loss of confidence in the legislators representing them. The freedoms sought should be nominated for agents to observe verification, while interested observers and media will also be recognized in each voting unit, and the signers of the petition should be verified using the BBVAS.

“Therefore, if the petitioner fully complies with the requirements of Article 1 (f) of the Regulations and the guidelines regarding the submission of his petition, the Committee will announce the next step in conformity with the existing laws, regulations and guidelines. In the absence of a defined contact address, the Committee is working to use other means to inform the representative of the local applicant.

“The Commission assured the public that it will be guided by the recalled legal framework. Therefore, the public should discount any speculation and hints on social media.”
