
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara suspended former presidents of 23 local government areas in the state on Wednesday, March 26.
The embattled governor received them in his private residence in Port Harcourt.
The former chairman made a solidarity visit to express his firm support for Governor Fobara and the government’s “River First” mantra.
Leaders of the leadership delegation are the Chairman of the Local Government of Nigeria, Argon, former Chairman of the Association of Government Chairmans of the Rivers State Chapter, Rivers State Chapter, and former Mayor of the Municipal Government Council of Harcourt.
In a statement by the chief press secretary of Nelson Chukwudi, the chairman also prayed for divine intervention in the state’s political crisis.
“This is a critical moment for the river people to remain unified and law-abiding to prevent opponents from taking advantage of the situation.”
Governor Fobara was suspended along with his agent NMA ODU and was suspended by President Bola Tinubu after declaring a six-month state of emergency in the state on March 18.
Tinubu also appointed the sole government of the Rivers State Government, retired vice-chancellor Ibok-ete Ibas, who performed administrative affairs in the state within six months of the suspension.
