Nubari Saatah, leader of the Niger Delta Congress (NDC), was detained for the group’s scheduled demonstrations against President Bra Tinub’s emergency measures in Rivers State.
Representatives of the pro-democracy attack campaign verified the information with journalists Wednesday night, citing the organization’s involvement led to the release of NDC leaders.
Additionally, he said there was no bail, but stressed that the group needed to provide a commitment to notify police before launching any protests.
“We just secured his release after he was transferred to the state CID.
“Yes, we just signed up for a cause and we will inform them as long as we want to hold a protest.” Sources told the Sahara.
Naija News The NDC President was arrested Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Rivers, and is currently being held in the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), the report said.
After police solicited invitations from the group’s spokesman Mudiaga Ogboru, his arrest was due to his remarks on President Tinubu’s emergency rule and encouragement to residents of the Niger Delta to claim their civil rights through protests.
Police no longer allow Ogboru to respond to the invitation, but instead choose to detain the NDC president, according to a source who spoke with the Sahara.
Police have reached out to Mudiaga Ogboru, spokesman for the Niger Delta Congress, in response to his criticism of the urgent rule in the river and his call on the people of the Niger Delta to express their objections, whether through protest or other means, against the presidential directive of the state, the state.
“The police did not wait for him, but continued to arrest the president. He has been in custody since yesterday.” Source added.
Ogboru confirmed the development earlier, telling Saharareporter that he received two separate invitations, one from the Lagos State Police Department and the other from the Rivers State Police Department.
“I actually received two different invitations, one from the Lagos Police Command and the other from the Rivers State Police Command.” He said.
“It’s about our plan to protest the emergency rule in the river. Since they couldn’t catch me, they continued to arrest the president of Rivers, who lives in Port Harcourt.”
