Good morning in Nigeria. Welcome Naija News Top newspaper headlines in Nigeria on Thursday, March 27, 2025

The presidency insisted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not remove him, only suspending the Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his agent Ngozi Odu.

Olusegun Dada, Tinubu’s special assistant on social media, responded to comments from former Anambra Governor, Peter Obi at the birthday symposium of former IMO state governor Emeka Ihedioha on Wednesday.

Naija News reported that Peter Obi responded to Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State and lamented that the current government’s democracy has collapsed.

Dada’s reaction described Peter Obi as owing it to Obasanjo as the underlying layer of democracy.

According to him, the democracy formed an illegal 4-person parliament and his private spokesperson on October 29, 2023, and later the democracy collapsed when the parliament building was unilaterally demolished.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said he is not sure if he will run for the current president in 2027, Bola Ahmed Tinubu

In an upcoming interview with Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie’s TV show “Miscellaneous Stories”, Atiku answers questions about his potential candidate qualifications.

Despite the announcement of a coalition of opposition leaders that aims to challenge Bola Tinubu of 2027, Atiku stressed that a viable platform is crucial before any decision is made.

Former Presidential candidate Atiku, the former presidential candidate of the Democratic Party (PDP), acknowledged that speculation surrounding the alliance is growing, with figures such as former Labor presidential candidate Peter Peter Obi and former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai being seen as major contenders.

But when asked if he would run for president again, Atiku replied: “I don’t know, because first of all, there must be a viable platform, more than any other time in the political history of this country, especially since the return of democracy.”

The Rivers National Government has announced an immediate suspension of all political officials and appointments across the state.

NAIJA News reported that the development had been published in a statement issued on Wednesday, March 26 by Rivers State Administrator Chief of Staff, indicating that the moratorium follows the mandate granted to the state’s chief executive, by President Bola Tinubu retired deputy deputy admiral IBOK-ETE IBAS.

Officials affected by this suspension include:

    – Secretary of State Government (SSG)
    – Chief of Staff
    – All Honorary Specialists
    – Chairman and Board Members, Institutional Committees, Committees, Institutions and Officials
    – All Special Advisors, Special Assistants and Senior Special Assistants

In addition, the statement directs the suspended officials to transfer their responsibilities to the permanent secretaries within their respective ministries, departments and agencies (MDAS).

If there is no permanent secretary, the highest director or head of administration will take over.

The Directive comes into effect on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

The Independent National Election Commission (INEC) confirmed on Wednesday that petitioners seeking to recall Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan have updated their records as required by law.

INEC said petitioners updated their contact information by providing their phone number and email address.

To this end, the Election Commission said it had resumed the process of recalling Senator Natasha.

NAIJA News reported that the INEC statement signed by its State Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voters Education Commission Sam Olumekun said the next step is to review the list of signers submitted by the petitioners to ensure that the petition is actually signed by her constitutional staff for more than half of the registered voters.

Similarly, in another letter dated March 26, signed by its secretary Mrs. Ross Oriaran Anthony, INEC has forwarded the notice to Senator Natasha and copied the National Assembly leadership led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, confirming that the committee has begun recalling the proceedings against her.

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike vowed to ensure that the 2023 People’s Democratic Presidential Candidate (PDP) Atiku Abubakar failed in his presidential ambitions.

Naija News reported that Atiku resolved his decision not to choose Wike as his campaign partner in the 2023 election and said he had no regrets.

In an interview with Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie’s TV show “Miscellaneous Stories”, Atiku answered questions about the PDP leadership crisis in the PDP.

Many observers speculate that Wike’s decision was ignored, and they led the rebellion within the PDP along with five other governors, which prompted Atiku’s death in the election. Wick later boasted of working with Atiku and providing President Bola Tinubu with River State.

Asked if he regretted not choosing Vic, Attiku replied firmly: “No, not at all.”

Atiku explained that his decision stemmed from a process within the party, recalling the criticism he faced in 2019 for failing to consult extensively when he chose Peter Obi as his campaign partner.

Wike reacted through media aide Lere Olayinka, who has no regrets about refusing to use him as his campaign partner during the 2023 presidential election.

He admitted to playing a role in the failure of Atiku in the 2023 general election and vowed to ensure he lost in future elections.

The Nigerian government has finally begun a 77,000-month allowance for newly approved National Youth Services (NYSC) members, ending months of uncertainty and frustration.

Several legion members received credit alerts reflecting the increase in allowances, marking a solution to long-standing delays.

Naija News learned that the decision came after Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande assured Nigerians during an interview on Channel TV that the backlog of payments would be cleared by the end of March.

For months, the government has stalled new allowances in a manner of budgetary restrictions and bureaucratic delays.

The minister stressed that although President Bola Tinubu approved the allowance a few months ago, expenditures depend on the amounts that included budget allocations that were not underway at the time of the announcement.

The government led by President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday declared Monday, March 31 and Tuesday, April 1, 2025 as public holidays in honor of the Eid-El-Fitr celebrations.

Naija News reported that Home Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo disclosed this in a statement by Magdalene Ajani, the Ministry’s permanent secretary.

In the announcement, Tunji-Ojo congratulates all Muslims on their successful completion of fasting in the Holy Month of Ramadan.

He urged all Muslims to “embrace the virtues of self-discipline, compassion, generosity and peace, and emphasize the importance of love, forgiveness and unity in building a harmonious society.”

Tunji-Ojo calls on Nigerians to use this festival to pray for peace, stability and prosperity of the country.

Nollywood actress Lilian Afegbai talks about her experience after being asked to pay $1,200 for her friend’s wedding in Lagos.

Naija News reported that TheSpian in a post via its Instagram page on March 26, 2025 expressed dissatisfaction with the sale of Aso-Ebi in US dollars.

Lilian explained that she enthusiastically congratulated her friends before receiving the wedding invitation before she discovered the cost of the selected fabric.

The experienced Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia (commonly known as 2face) may soon marry his new lover Natasha Osawaru and after marrying Annie Idibia, he may formally marry his new lover Natasha Osawaru.
Naija News reports that the relationship between 2face and Natasha attracted its own controversy, but the two lovebirds didn’t seem to care.

Recently, when they visited popular Cloteier in Abuja, Seyi Vodi and Natasha appeared online and casually asked when they were ready for their wedding dress.

Insiders quoted by Nigerian Tribune also revealed that Natasha has completely set out to formally marry the singer and may soon be hoping to become Mrs. Idibia.

Industry insiders speculate that traditional weddings may take place before the end of the year.

However, family sources show that 2Baba’s mother strongly opposes her son’s new relationship and reportedly vowed not to bless her marriage.

Sources said she still supports Anne and believes Natasha’s presence is leading to further division.

Despite the objections, 2BABA did not seem to be shocked. The music idol is known for his calm manners and has not made any public statements about his wedding plans. But those close to him show that he is determined in his decision to go with Natasha.

Nigerian defender Ola Aina still wants the Super Hawks to get a spot in the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026, despite their tough obstacles in qualifying.

In a recent match at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in UYO, the Super Hawks failed to win, defeating Zimbabwe’s fighters 1-1.

The draw puts the Super Hawks in a dangerous position, currently ranked fourth in Group C and trails South Africa by 6 points.

Nevertheless, Ola Aina, who played for Nottingham Forest, expressed his firm belief in the potential for the team’s rise. In a message shared on Snapchat, he asserted confidently: “We will make this World Cup, chill,” emphasizing the team’s resilience and determination.
