Rivers state legislators in the National Assembly promised unwavering support to Rivers state legislator Martins Amaewhule after the Supreme Court rejected Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s appeal to the legitimacy of his family.
A delegation led by members representing the Southeast River, Senator Barry Mpigi, was accompanied by Senator Allwell Onyesoh, representing Rivers West. House Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda met with Amaewhule to show unity and reaffirm their commitment to the speakers.
Hon was also present. Felix Nwaeke, Hon. Victor Obuzor Blessing Amadi, Hon. Cyril Hart and Honors (Hon). Dumnamene Dekor both reiterated their loyalty to the leadership of Amaewhule.
In an earlier press conference in Port Harcourt, lawmakers stressed that the Supreme Court ruling dismissed the governor’s appeal to professional House members, who confirmed Amaewhule was the legal spokesman for the Rivers State Capitol.

Chinda warned that any ongoing contempt for the Supreme Court’s ruling would not only undermine the judgment, but could lead to political chaos and illegal acts in the state.
He urged all parties to respect the authority of the court and to ensure peace in the political landscape of the River State.
