The church paid me N50 in 2007? Christian comedians always share

The comedian’s eternal name is Akuidolo Orevaoghene, who paid for the church when he invited him to serve.

Forever posted a round-trip view on the current performance between pastors and gospel singers in an interview with Arise TV.

Many pastors talked about allegations against gospel singers who were responsible for singing in churches.

Others say they support gospel singers, and mention that pastors also make money from preaching and have no right to criticize gospel singers.

Always give an opinion, he says he has an optional way to accept church payments. He said some churches were given free services, while others were charged.

He recalls a special incident in 2007 when he was paid a paltry N50 by the church. He said he initially thought it was a joke until another member confirmed that the payment was indeed true.

The comedian said that now, when the church invites him to perform, he replied that he does not charge for the church and asks them to decide on the payment amount.

According to him, this approach allowed him to assess the church’s appreciation for the expertise he had honed over the years.

He said: “There are churches that I don’t charge, churches that I charge. I went to certain churches and I told them to pay me with their thoughts, but I ended up asking if they really had any thoughts.

“In 2007, I was paid to me by the church’s N50. I thought it was a joke until another person brought the N50 mint and the first person said ‘We have paid him’ and that was when it suddenly sent me and I left it in the heart of the church.

“When the church calls me now, I tell them I don’t charge for the church, but I want to know how much they want to pay me. Because the reason they call me is not because I’m the only interesting person, but because they believe in the expertise I have mastered over the years.”

Forever also shared a surprising experience with a large church in the east, where he was invited by Lagos to perform at the Governor’s birthday celebration.

He recalled: “There was a cathedral in the east about two years ago and they invited me to let them go on their birthday.

“After receiving N150,000 for N150,000, I was finally surprised. I was shocked because I imagined myself leaving Lagos to go to the East to collect N150,000.”
