He continued: “Like every album I’ve ever done, I’ve been writing, right next to it, ‘Let’s try to write a song that we can play to Rihanna.”
“Your Shape of You” was released in 2017 and became one of the most successful songs of the year. It only accumulates over 4.2 billion streams on Spotify.
Sheeran told Fallon that the song “really doesn’t fit” him. However, after he made some adjustments, his views changed. Even then, he had to let his “head around it…because I was very much writing with other people.”
Fallon points out that two Rihanna’s moms are like your muse, Sheeran agrees, noting that he is not alone and inspired by art.
“I promise you there will be a lot of songwriters out there. [whose] The best songs come from songs trying to write Rihanna. ”
