    Sallah: Two kids K!

The Gombe State Police Department has confirmed that there are two children’s D3ath after the stampede in Gombe’s main Eid al-Fitr,

Command spokesman Buhari Abdullahi disclosed this in a statement issued in Gombe on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

According to Abdullahi, the incident occurred after the end of the Eid prayer, about 10:45 am on the exit of Eid.

The stampede was caused by insufficient exports, as large groups of people (mainly women and children) were eager to leave the site.

“This situation worsened by the intense heat, leading to unfortunate events,” he said.

He said 22 people were affected and were immediately taken to the hospital for medical care.

Mr Abdullahi added: “Sadly, two victims, a four-year-old boy and a six-month-old baby girl, were declared dead by doctors while under treatment.”

He expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and hoped for the quick recovery of the injury.

“He also directed that the state government fully covers all medical expenses for injured victims to ensure their recovery and well-being.

He advised: “Police urged Eid ground managers to ensure that all entrances and exit gates remain open to promote smooth movement, especially after prayer.”

Meanwhile, Gorbe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and those affected by the tragedy.

In a statement issued by media aides on Sunday, the governor conducted a thorough investigation into the situation that led to the stampede with the aim of preventing future events.

“The safety and well-being of our citizens remain a top priority. The state government is committed to learning from this incident and taking corrective measures.”

He also directed that the state government fully covers all medical expenses for injured victims to ensure their recovery and well-being.
